Dr.Eva Olsson

Victoria Slight, information minister for the St. Joseph's Catholic High School Student Council, had a chance to sit down and talk with Dr. Eva Olsson, a Holocaust survivor, who spoke to the student body on Thursday.

Victoria's interview with Dr. Olsson will be published in a newsletter to be put out by the Student Council in the near future.

New Spirit Ministers Get Set To Roll

St. Joseph's welcomes two new Spirit Ministers for the 2009-2010 school year. Pictured above are Lilly Freemark and Audrey McMann, elected last spring by the student population to be the spirit leaders for the school.

The two have already made their mark. The ballots had barely been counted before the two new ministers were hard at it, preparing the town square for the annual grade 7 graduation dance, knowing as they did that those grade 7's would soon become this year's grade 8's. And right after that, preparations were undertaken to get ready for the SJCHS graduation ceremony. And so, immediately upon election, Lilly and Audrey went to work at welcoming new students, and being part of the process of saying goodbye to those moving on.

It appears the passage of a summer hasn't dimmned their enthusiasm, as both ministers were observed in the building prior to the start of the school year, getting stuff ready for opening day. They can't wait to get rolling. And the first big thing coming up will be the Spirit Day, coming up in the next couple of weeks. If their early work is any indication of what we might expect to see, then it ought to be another in a long line of special events for the students of St. Joseph's Catholic High School.

St. Joseph's extends best wishes to both Lilly and Audrey as they undertake their student council and spirit activities.
